Care for the whole you

Faith-Based Emotional Healing

Faith-based emotional healing is Christ-centered, pastoral support for the weight many believers carry — anxiety, depression, grief, and seasons of change — care that honors your faith instead of setting it aside. Dr. Lori Dunn walks with you toward wholeness, bringing compassionate, trauma-informed understanding together with inner healing prayer.

What is faith-based emotional healing?

Faith-based emotional healing is compassionate, Christ-centered support for the emotional struggles of life. It takes your pain seriously and takes your faith seriously — believing the two were never meant to be at odds.

It is pastoral and restorative rather than clinical. Where secular therapy may ask you to leave faith at the door, and a busy church may not have room for the wound underneath, this is a place where the anxiety, grief, or heaviness can be understood and brought to God in the same room.

For many people, that integration is the missing piece — honest understanding of what you carry, woven together with the presence of God through inner healing prayer.

What we walk through together

Common reasons people reach out:

  • Anxiety & overwhelm

Finding peace and steadier ground when worry won’t quiet down.

  • Depression & heaviness

Gentle, hope-filled support for the seasons that feel dark and stuck.

  • Grief & loss

Walking through loss with honesty and hope, at your own pace.

  • Life transitions

Navigating change, identity shifts, and "what now?" seasons.

  • Faith & doubt

Wrestling honestly with God in a safe, non-judgmental space.

What to expect

What this support looks like

Sessions are private, online, and unhurried. We begin by listening — to your story, your struggles, and what you’re hoping for. From there, care is shaped around you, drawing on compassionate, trauma-informed understanding, biblical truth, and, when you’re ready, prayer.

Faith is woven in at your invitation and your pace. Some sessions are mostly conversation and reflection; others make room to bring a wound directly to God through inner healing prayer. You can read more about how the two come together on our approach.

We never promise outcomes or rush your soul. The goal is real, lasting wholeness — to heal, grow, and thrive, not merely to cope.

Common questions

Questions about faith-based emotional healing

Is this counseling or therapy? +

No. Dr. Dunn provides faith-based, pastoral support and inner healing — not licensed clinical counseling or therapy. For many believers this Christ-centered care is exactly the missing piece; when licensed clinical treatment is needed, we gladly refer.

How is this different from secular therapy? +

Secular therapy usually sets faith aside; here, faith is integrated throughout. Care is Christ-centered and may include prayer, offered as pastoral support rather than clinical treatment.

Do I need to be a Christian to come? +

You’re welcome wherever you are on your faith journey. Care is Christ-centered and faith is always offered at your invitation and pace, never forced.

Do you work with clients outside North Carolina? +

Yes. Sessions are online, and Dr. Dunn serves individuals, couples, and families across the United States from a base in North Carolina.
