Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers about how care works here — faith-based inner healing, pastoral support, sessions, faith, and privacy. Don’t see your question? You’re always welcome to ask.

About the care here

What kind of care do you offer? +

Koinonia Restoration House offers Christ-centered, faith-based inner healing and pastoral support — compassionate care for the whole person that brings biblical truth and prayer together with trauma-informed understanding. It is pastoral and restorative, not clinical, and it refuses to ask you to choose between your faith and your healing.

How is this different from secular therapy? +

Secular therapy often asks you to set faith aside; here, faith is integrated throughout. Care is Christ-centered and may include prayer, while still drawing on evidence-based, trauma-informed principles. Dr. Dunn offers pastoral, faith-based care rather than licensed clinical counseling or therapy.

Is this the same as seeing a licensed therapist? +

No. Dr. Dunn provides Christ-centered, faith-based inner healing and pastoral support, which is pastoral in nature and distinct from licensed clinical mental-health treatment. She is glad to work alongside your licensed providers and can offer referrals when clinical care is needed.

Who do you work with? +

Individuals, couples, families, and ministry leaders — including those navigating trauma, attachment wounds, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, leadership stress, identity, and purpose.

About inner healing prayer

What is inner healing prayer? +

Inner healing prayer is a gentle, Christ-centered way of praying through painful memories and emotional wounds, inviting God to bring His comfort, truth, and presence into the places ordinary insight alone cannot reach. At Koinonia Restoration House it is integrated with trauma-informed care, not used in place of it.

Is inner healing prayer biblical? +

The heart of it runs throughout Scripture — God heals the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3), Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1), and we are transformed by the renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2). The practice is held humbly, tested against God’s Word, and never replaces Scripture, the church, or wise counsel.

Is inner healing the same as deliverance? +

No. Inner healing prayer focuses on emotional and spiritual wounds — memories, grief, shame, and lies we’ve believed. It is gentle and reflective, not dramatic or sensational, and is distinct from deliverance ministry.

Logistics & sessions

Are sessions online? +

Yes. All sessions are private and online, so you can meet from wherever you are. Dr. Dunn is based in North Carolina and serves clients across the United States.

Do you work with clients outside North Carolina? +

Yes. Because care is faith-based and offered online, Dr. Dunn serves individuals, couples, and families nationwide from a base in North Carolina.

How do I get started? +

Begin with a free consultation. Send a note through the booking page and Dr. Dunn will personally reply to find a time and answer your first questions.

What does it cost? +

The introductory consultation is free. Session fees and options are discussed during that conversation, so you have what you need to decide without pressure.

How long does the process take? +

There’s no fixed program or set number of sessions. Healing is a journey walked at the pace your soul can hold, and we never rush it or promise a particular timeline.

Faith, privacy & care

Do I have to be a Christian? +

You’re welcome wherever you are on your faith journey. Care is Christ-centered, and faith is always offered at your invitation and pace, never forced.

Is everything I share confidential? +

Yes. What you share is held with care and confidentiality, within the bounds of ethical and legal limits, which Dr. Dunn will explain clearly before you begin.

What if I’m in crisis? +

Koinonia Restoration House is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741, or call 911. For immediate danger, go to your nearest emergency room.
